Werewolf Rengoku and Tanjiro Demon Slayer AU: A battle with a huge demon was starting to become to hard to handle as the night continued on. Genya, Zenistu, Inosuke, Muichiro, Mitsuri, Uzui, Rengoku, Nezuko, and Tanjiro were becoming overpowered and severely overwhelmed by the demons duplicating abilities. Genya had eaten parts of a duplicates flesh which temporarily transformed him into a demon. The full moon was high in the sky which made it a little bit more difficult especially for one particular demon slayer and one particular hashira. Kyojuro started to fall behind when he felt the pain in his entire body becoming to much to handle and noticed how much control he was losing. Uzui noticed, grabbed him and placed him somewhere away from the battle temporarily so he could transform into his werewolf form. Uzui placed Kyojuro deep within the forest but noticed him trying to stand up. “Nope you’re staying here.” Kyojuro was about to respond but his body had already started to slowly change causing him to cry out in pain. He dug his sword into the ground and held on for support thinking he was still able to fight. “No your staying here until you can fight again. You keep fighting like this and your dead.” Kyojuro looked at him with annoyance but understood. Uzui then darted off into the battle with the sounds of cracking bones, ripping flesh and clothing, and screams of agony that got deeper following behind him that got fainter and fainter.
Everyone noticed both of them gone until Uzui returned without Kyojuro. Everyone sort of knew what was going on except for Genya. Everyone continued fighting as usual until Genya was hit and flew back hard into a tree knocking him out cold. Muichiro noticed immediately and darted towards him to make sure he was ok. He sighed in relief when he only found him to be unconscious. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Insosuke, Mitsuri, and Uzui landed next to them as if guarding them but also as a place to rest and regain strength. Tanjiro was breathing quite heavily and fast. He was holding his chest clearly in pain and soon collapsed onto one knee. “Hey kid you alright?” Uzui walked over next to him and listened to his heartbeat. Tanjiro nodded but it was clear he was not fine.
“Do we have any more wisteria?” “Tanjiro drank the last bit a few moments ago.” “sh*t.” Wisteria mixed with Wolfsbane was meant to stop or even hold back a transformation but without resting or letting it take full affect, it wouldn’t last as long and the Wolfsbane could activate and start the transformation sooner then it should. That’s what was happening to Tanjiro. The Wolfsbane had activated and since it was a full moon it was extremely hard to fight it. Tanjiro’s grip his chest tightened and winced in pain from the Wolfsbane spreading through his body. “We need to move Genya. I don’t think he’ll be waking up anytime soon.” “I- I’ll take him.” Said Tanjiro who’s was very clearly still in a lot of pain. He walked up to Genya and already put him on his back. “huh, Hey kid! Your not going anywhere in tht condition!” But Tanjiro already took off running. Uzui screamed at him to come back and was about to go after him but was stopped when the demon came attacking them again.
Tanjiro ran and ran and felt the Wolfsbane growing stronger in his body. He wanted desperately to rest but he continued to press on for Genyas sake. He ran and ran and felt it getting harder to breathe but he continued to run. ‘Keep running. Ignore the pain in your body and just keep running!’ He started to stumble and it was getting harder and harder to breathe. Then he stopped once he started wheezing. He could feel his body starting to change. His heart and lungs were growing and it made it extremely hard to take in oxygen and his heart was not pumping enough blood into his body. He was getting weaker by the second. Not only that but his brain wasn’t getting enough oxygen to function. His body was failing him. He felt dizzy and everything was muffled. He didn’t even notice his own heart and lungs were pushing against his rib cage. ‘Stop…ple….ase….s…to..p..’ His ribs cracked and splintered. Some even slit off completely and pierced his organs. Blood splattered from his airway and out of his mouth but he was so dizzy he didn’t even notice it. He felt completely numb.
Then his ribs healed in the blink of an eye and started growing with his organs. He could breathe and his heart was beating again but it was beating extremely fast. ‘Ok no time to stop. Keep moving!’ He took off running again.
‘Where? Where can I stop? Am I even far enough away?’ Tanjiros eyes darted around like crazy trying to find a spot to rest but he didn’t even know where to go or how far away he was. Finally he spotted a place to put Genya down. It was near a large tree which bushes growing around it. ‘There…’ He slowed his pace and sped walk the rest of the way towards the tree. Finally he made it. Tanjiro gently and slowly grabbed Genya off his back almost falling in the process. Once on the ground he turned around panting and wheezing heavily until his legs went numb and collapsed underneath him.

The full moon hung heavy in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the forest. Tanjiro lay on the soft earth, his breaths ragged and shallow. The air felt thick and heavy in his lungs, each inhale a painful struggle. He could feel the Wolfsbane coursing through his veins, its tendrils spreading through his body, twisting and contorting him from the inside out.
“You’re a stubborn one, you know that?” a voice rasped from above. Uzui, his face etched with worry, leaned over Tanjiro. He pulled a vial from his belt and held it up, the faint scent of wisteria a beacon in the suffocating darkness.
“Too late. It’s already taken hold.” Tanjiro choked out, his voice a mere whisper.
“We’ll figure something out. It’s a full moon, but we can’t just leave you here.” Uzui’s gaze darted around, searching for some kind of solution.
Tanjiro tried to lift his hand, the pain in his chest a searing, white-hot agony. “It’s… no use.”
A sharp crack resonated through the forest, followed by the guttural roar of the demon. The sound was close, too close. Tanjiro closed his eyes, trying to block out the sound of the battle raging around them.
“We’ll deal with that later,” Uzui said, his voice firm. “We need to find a way to stop this.” He rummaged through his pouch, pulling out various herbs and vials.
Tanjiro’s vision blurred, the world around him fading into a hazy mess. The sensation of his body changing was overwhelming. He felt his muscles clenching, his bones shifting, his skin burning with an unbearable heat.
“Tanjiro! Hold on!” Uzui’s voice, though panicked, was a lifeline in the darkness.
The scent of wisteria, once faint, grew stronger. Uzui was pouring the contents of the vial into his mouth. It was the last of the mixture, but it was his only hope.
“Tanjiro, I need you to stay awake,” Uzui said, his voice urgent. “Fight it, for Genya, for everyone…”
The world spun. His vision was a kaleidoscope of red and black. The scent of blood mingled with the smell of wisteria. His senses were overloaded, his mind a whirlwind of chaos.
He could feel the demon’s presence nearby, a chilling aura of malice that sent shivers down his spine. He wanted to fight, to protect everyone, but the Wolfsbane was taking over.
He felt himself slipping into the abyss, a cold, dark void pulling him down, down, down…
But then, he heard a whisper. A soft, familiar voice that pierced through the chaos.
“Tanjiro…”
He opened his eyes, his gaze meeting the concerned face of Uzui. He saw a faint glow coming from the vial in Uzui’s hand, a tiny sliver of light in the encroaching darkness.
“Stay with me,” Uzui urged. “You can do this.”
With a surge of determination, Tanjiro focused his mind. He had to fight. He had to hold on.
He could feel the wisteria working, its calming scent a soothing balm on his inflamed mind.
He was not going to give in. He would not become a monster.
He would fight. For everyone. He would fight for his friends, for Nezuko, for his dream of a world without demons.
He would fight.
And he would win.
